The son of Uzzi: Izrahiah.
Have you ever read 1 Chronicles? If not, you need to. An especially gripping passage in this book are chapters 1 through 10. In reality, these chapters are some of the driest reading in all of scripture. A seemingly endless recitation of genealogies that drones on and on as if anyone really cared who begot who. At least that was my first impression. Upon a further in depth look at these numerous lists of men and their wives and their concubines and the children they sired, I found something interesting. I found an ingrained and almost obsessive attention to detailing the descendants of individuals. I found a dedication to knowing where and who you came from. And most importantly, I found men, women and families that followed God. As you read through the list of names, occasionally you will find a man who is mentioned honorably as one who follows God. These are the men and women that somehow stood out from the crowd. They lived on such a way as to draw attention to their faith. They set an example for others to see and to follow. They walked with God. I want to be mentioned honorably when history looks back on my walk with Christ. I don’t want to be just another name in a list of names. How about you?
